A big loss to our ministry team

It is with deep sadness we announce that on Monday 9 August one of our ministry directors and executive members passed away after a short illness.

Alistair Dewar (36) joined the choir in 2004 and sang in more than 45 events as a small group member or choir member. He joined our executive committee in 2006 and was appointed a director in 2009, eventually acting as company secretary. He was also a board member of our overseas ministries - Origin South Africa and the Cape Town Gospel Choir.

In recent years he acted as Origin’s front of house manager at the Usher Hall and managed the ticket desk at most events. As such he will have had direct contact with so many people who attended Origin Scotland events over the years. Al was a stalwart of the ministry's organisation team, and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make events happen.

He lived in Edinburgh and was a consultant in Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy A&E Department. Please pray for his family and in particular his wife Sara - our former choir manager - and their two young boys at this exceptionally difficult time.

We are heartbroken that have lost a personal friend, and a willing worker who loved God and served Him with a passion.

We ask that the family's privacy be respected at the moment. Further details for those wishing to pay respects will be shared on our social media platform in coming days.
